Spring Pollen Surge 2026
Pollen is already spiking in 4 states. 2026 could be intense
HeyAllergy
Hello!
You probably expect us to tell you that spring allergy season is starting. That’s not the story. The story is that allergy season already started — and 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most intense in years.
The Numbers
Carolinas & Southeast: Tree pollen surging since mid-February — weeks ahead of schedule. Oak, pine, and birch are the primary culprits.
Georgia forecast: Pollen monitoring predicts a rapid jump from near-zero to over 500 grains/m³ within days in March, with April peaks potentially exceeding 2,000 grains/m³.
Northeast warning: NJ experts warn this year’s harsh winter will cause trees to release concentrated bursts of pollen all at once. Cold winters don’t mean fewer allergies — they mean compressed, more intense seasons.
National outlook: The Old Farmer’s Almanac and multiple climate forecasts agree: a milder, wetter winter is fueling early plant growth and a longer, more severe season.
Why 2026 Is Different
Climate data shows pollen seasons have been trending longer and more severe for over a decade. HHS data from the USA National Phenology Network confirms spring has been arriving progressively earlier across the U.S., and plants release pollen about two weeks after showing springtime activity.
What You Can Do Right Now
Start medications early. Allergists recommend starting nasal corticosteroids 2–3 weeks before your area’s pollen season, which may be now.
Know your specific triggers. “I have spring allergies” isn’t specific enough. A simple blood test can pinpoint exactly which trees, grasses, or weeds are causing your symptoms.
Consider immunotherapy. If antihistamines aren’t enough, immunotherapy (like HeyPak® allergy drops) helps treat the root cause.
Track your local forecast. Check HeyAllergy’s city-specific allergy forecast pages for daily pollen data in your area.
The best time to prepare is before symptoms start. A 15-minute telemedicine appointment with a board-certified allergist can set you up for the entire season.
